How the programme works

Northern University of Business and Technology Khulna (NUBTK) has consistently demonstrated that higher education extends far beyond academic excellence. As an institution committed to nurturing socially responsible citizens, the university organised a humanitarian relief initiative to support the people of Gaza, Palestine, during a period of severe conflict and humanitarian hardship. The initiative was undertaken with the support of Life & Hope Foundation, reflecting a shared commitment to standing beside communities facing urgent need, regardless of geographical boundaries.

Two humanitarian events were successfully organised on 7 January and 31 March. Both campaigns received meaningful participation from students, faculty members, university officials, well-wishers, and members of the wider community. Participants mobilised resources, promoted awareness, collected donations, and encouraged charitable giving to support families affected by the crisis in Gaza. Together, the two events demonstrated how an educational institution can transform empathy into responsible and organised humanitarian action.

Students: Led fundraising drives, awareness activities, donation collection, and community outreach with energy and commitment.
Faculty: Provided guidance, coordination, mentorship, and institutional support throughout both humanitarian events.
Community: Alumni, families, professionals, and well-wishers joined the campaigns in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

More than two individual events, the January and March campaigns became a community-driven humanitarian response—uniting people from different walks of life behind one shared cause and sending a message of compassion and hope from Bangladesh to Palestine.

Compassion in action

The relief assistance for Gaza focused on addressing urgent humanitarian needs. Donations were carefully organised as dry food supplies and financial contributions, helping assistance reach affected families in practical and meaningful ways. Dry food items were selected for their long shelf life, ease of transportation, and suitability for emergency situations where access to fresh food is severely limited. Financial contributions provided additional flexibility in responding to critical needs on the ground.

Field perspective

The second humanitarian campaign, organised on 31 March, was connected with the spirit of Eid—a time traditionally associated with celebration, generosity, and sharing with people facing hardship. While families around the world prepared to celebrate, the university community remembered those whose celebrations had been overshadowed by conflict and displacement. Humanitarian assistance and financial contributions were prepared for affected families in Gaza, reflecting the values of kindness, solidarity, and compassion.

Sweets were also included as part of the Eid assistance. Although simple, this gesture carried meaningful emotional significance, as sharing sweets represents joy, hope, and togetherness. Their inclusion demonstrated that humanitarian support can respond not only to material necessities but also to the dignity and emotional well-being of people experiencing extraordinary hardship.

Every contribution, regardless of its size, represented a heartfelt gesture of hope and solidarity with the people of Palestine. Together, the campaigns reaffirmed that collective compassion can transcend borders, bringing individuals and communities together in support of a shared humanitarian cause. They also demonstrated how education can inspire responsible action and meaningful service beyond the classroom.

Beyond immediate relief. Students developed leadership, organisational ability, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for global citizenship—learning that education is also expressed through service, empathy, and responsible action.
